Protocol Engine

The executable form of a care plan.

Overview

A protocol is a declarative description of what should happen: which appliances, in which order, with which parameters and which stopping conditions. The Protocol Engine executes it on the host.

Why declarative

A protocol that is data rather than code can be authored in the cloud, reviewed by a clinician, versioned, signed and shipped without a firmware release. An appliance gains new behaviour without changing.

Future expansion

A published protocol format lets partners and clinicians contribute protocols. See Protocol Format under Developers.
